Autumn Classic Celebrates Its 35th Year By Going Live

LGBT Softball Tournament Will Stream Its Games Live With Cloud Sports Network

SAN DIEGO (CA) — When the first pitch is thrown in this year’s Autumn Classic in San Diego (October 5-7, 2018), one of the largest annual LGBT sporting events in the world will reach two huge milestones: celebrating its 35th consecutive year, and, for the first time, streaming its games live on the internet, making it the first such regional softball tournament to professionally broadcast its games in any format.

“We are very excited to partner with Cloud Sports Network (CSN) to broadcast our final few games on Championship Sunday, October 7,” said Autumn Classic Tournament Director Austin Jacobsen. “Our players come from all over North America to compete in our tournament and we are excited to be able to add live coverage of some of our games to the list of things that set us apart.”

The Autumn Classic will be the second tournament CSN has been tapped to cover this year. Earlier this month the fledgling network announced it had been selected to broadcast as many as 24 games for the ASANA Softball World Series in New Orleans, September 17 through 22.

“We are honored to be have been given the opportunity to help share what an incredible experience the Autumn Classic is with the rest of the world,” said CSN Founder Roman Jimenez. “The response to the few local regular season games we have broadcast so far has really blown us away. Being able to broadcast a world championship in New Orleans and then a few weeks later a regional tournament that also draws talent from all over the country is really a great opportunity for us.”

The Autumn Classic was founded in 1983 and had just six teams its first year. Since then the tournament has frequently surpassed over 100 teams and represents more than $1 Million in direct and indirect economic activity to the City and County of San Diego annually. The tournament is organized by America’s Finest City Softball League (AFCSL), San Diego’s largest LGBTQ+ sports organization. This year the tournament will be played on Saturday and Sunday, October 6 u0026amp; 7, with registration and other events beginning Thursday and Friday, October 4 and 5.
